Sometimes I just want to belt out this song with all I've got, in or out of tune. When I was rummaging through my Oscraps kits and came across this rocker silhouette, I knew where I was going with this challenge.

This was a therapeutic challenge. It was something
I needed to express in some way, and I'm grateful for the opportunity.
Journaling:
We've been living together now for 11 years. "Together" according to Webster is: a : as a unit b : considered as a whole. My definition of together? I live WITH you, most of the time in peace. You cannot believe how hard it was in the beginning to wrap my brain around that concept, that we could live together in peace. In the dark of night I would lie awake and cry myself to sleep. There were so many unknowns. It was fear of the unknown that was the worst. Mentally, you didn't make it easy on me. But what you did do for me was give me time. Time to learn more about you. Time to make a plan. Time to weigh my options and do what was best for ME. My truth, my reality and mantra - YOU DON'T OWN ME.

You think you do, and I have to hand this to you. You wear me out most days and sap my energy in a big way. But I've learned to adjust my lifestyle and make the most of my days, even with your presence in my life. You underestimated me, didn't you? No, you don't own me. You don't even know me. I am stronger than you ever thought and just so we're clear . . . . you have a battle ahead of you if you think I'm just going to give in; lie down and die. Leukemia, you invaded my body; my life and gave me an 11 year (medium) life expectancy to deal with. 11 years later and here I am. Are you keeping score? By my count, it's Me - 1 You - 0. And in case you haven't figured this out yet . . . . I love life!
