The Boat - 1970s:2010

Here's another entry for the very clever Oct 2010 Camera Corner Challenge, to scrap a photo that tells a story, using lots of delicious products by Ninascraps.

Journaling Reads:

1970s: There was a large space in the middle of our bedroom at Chipstead St, space in which we played, having moved the table out of the way. Sometime we played with our Sindy dolls, other times it might be horses, but a favourite game involved the table itself. Upturned it ceased to be a table but became a boat, into which we climbed and sailed the seven seas, sometimes as pirates other times as sea captains, yet others as kids living on own island all very Swallows & Amazons. I remember the thrill of driving it, the feeling of being in charge and decided what & where we should go. I remember feeling safe inside the boat. Of course, it wasnt blue in those days.

2010: Jammie & Woody were making a big mess in Grandmas sitting room, throwing cushions around & bouncing off the furniture. When they tipped over the table I was catapulted back 35 yrs to those games at home in our boat. I told the boys about our boat and they leapt on board with great enthusiasm. But looking at how squashed they were inside it, aged only 5, made me realise that Em & I must have been even younger when we played these games, for I dont recall being that squeezed in.

Wonderful memories, a photo was required shame about the shocking mess all around!

Love the way you've told the story here Selena ... reference back to the 1970's then fast-forwarding to the 2010 ... genius! I remember doing something similar myself, that and playing in big cardboard boxes ... the content of which would be sitting idly by on the side!!!!

Now that is a fabulous journal!!!!! You have a brilliant memory of details!! I love to see children play and use their imaginations...This is totally a fabulous page!!! LOL about the "boat" being a lot smaller now...I could have sworn the shoebox of a house that we first lived in when I was a kid was a freaking MANSION!!!

Beautiful!!!
I love the same subject for 1970 and 2010.
And that picture is just BRILLIANT!!!!

to meet you in person, to hear your stories in the flesh ... *sigh* ... dream come true. You are the ultimate storyteller!
