It must be a fever. Because who knows what came over me. I cant plant and grow things. Daddy says when I walk into a plant store, the plants scream in fright. But there were two plant buying fundraisers at our schools, and, perhaps because of the long, never-ending winter this year, I bought some things. Good Friday, it was one of the first nice days and we went to town cleaning out the middle of the flower bed with all the lava rock. We had to stop and go to the store because I had no shovel, no spade, no watering can, no gloves, and at some point, I was going to need potting soil. I got you your own set of things and you were excited to help me take care of the plants. Perhaps spurred on by the success of keeping a clover plant alive for a month, we planted dill and scallions. We also worked on a hanging bag of strawberries for the deck. Theres more to come, but the rest of the lava rock needs to go away. Im not sure how successful this venture will be. After all, its pretty early to plant, but you were excited. Even picking out your own mushroom to add to the garden. If nothing else, Ive started a seed growing in you about caring for life and delighting in the beauty of nature.
