Completing the phrase today, I am... seems to be a pretty difficult task for me today. I think there are so many things that I could say...I am tired, I feel perpetually frustrated as a mother and caretaker of our home and boys, I am weary of the laundry, the cooking, the never ending picking up of toys...those are the seemingly mundane things that I am. Then there are the important things that I am...I am a Christ-follower, I am wife to Micah, mommy to Xavier and William, I am sister, daughter, friend, I am blessed beyond measure, I am abundantly rich in everything that is important...all of these are true...but today, today is a unique day in my world, because today marks three years since my world turned upside down, since I heard the words, unfortunately, both biopies came back positive for breast cancer. And so, today, I settle for today, I am alive. I am here to live my life with all of its frustrations, petty annoyances, and tiring laundry piles. Today, I am alive and I am thankful and I choose to live my life to the fullest because I know all too well that no day is guaranteed, each one is a gift.
