Blog Challenge - story behind a name
Journaling: My daddy wanted a girl. While other fathers bought baseball bats and fishing poles, hoping for boys to carry on their legend, my dad dreamed of his own little princess.?
My mom loved boys names . . . for girls that is. What girl wouldnt want to be a Bobbie or Joey? And my dad had such a nice name, after all, why couldnt she name her daughter after him?
Then the big day came. In the hospital Mom fretted, the pen hung midair over the birth certificate. What if I hated my name? People told her to just name me Stephanie and shorten it, but she didnt like Stephanie! What if I even hated her? Then she looked at my dad, so proud to get his little girl, and decidedly wrote the letters one by one. . .
