Nanis Birabrot (pear bread)
This is Anni, my neighbour who is over 80 years old.
Years ago, Anni brought me one of her freshly baked pear bred and it was simply delicious. Making pear bread is quite time-consuming.
As our neighbours had to take detours from time to time due to the construction of our house (because the street is so narrow), I wanted to thank them all with a gift for their understanding for the extra kilometres they had to drive.
I am a big fan of Lucile Prache and her painted recipes, so I came up with the idea of having her recreate Anni's pear bread.
The picture now features Anna's pear bread, one of my wooden boards and a cherry schnapps (Kirsch), produced by another neighbour.
Another neighbour's father is a paper artist. I asked him to make me 10 sheets of handmade paper so that I could have Lucile Prache's picture printed on them.
It was a great collaboration and all the recipients were delighted with their gifts.
Soon Anni will bring me some more pear bread, which she bakes during the Christmas season. It's a delicacy when eaten with alpine cheese.
