As we drove toward the Cliffs of Moher, passing one shimmering lake after another, we kept hoping to find a spot where we could stop and reach the water. Finally, we pulled over and stepped out into the wind, the only people in sight.
The air was fresh and wild, the pebbled shore stretching endlessly. A quiet, off‐the‐beaten‐track lake was exactly what we wanted, and it felt like we’d stumbled upon a secret place, still and beautiful in its solitude.
