My father told us that happiness was a conscious choice. If we wanted to see all the ugliness and unhappiness in the world, there was plenty to observe in this world; however is we chose to focus on the positive, the beauty and happiness, we need only look as we were surrounded by it. The choice was ours.

I decided to go symbolic with this with that thought in mind. Almost everything in this crazy layout is symbolic of something:
Large pearl: represents..pearls of wisdom
Gates: Self-imposed, things she determines are barriers to a better life
Darkness in the flower near her, the darkened spots on the floor, the dark shoes, her gloomy outlook
Tears and puddles of water beneath her: sadness, drowning in her tears
Lamp post: the beams of light are almost touching her if she would just raise her head
Eiffel Tower and musical notes (warped around it): gaiety, happiness also
Paris: we all need dreams
Ray of Light over the door: guiding the way
Clouds:: to look up instead of in
Butterflies: universal symbol for freedom
Cheery welcome mat & sign on the door: beckoning her to make the choice of happiness
Colorful scene on the other side of the fence: the happiness that is within her grasp
Pink and silver dress form & pink shoes: color & sparkle can be added to her life
The sign: showing her the directions available to her
