The Lighthouse
by The Hinsons, 1970
I thank God for the lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
For Jesus is the lighthouse,
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me
that I might clearly see
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
tell me where would this ship be?
"There is peace even in the storm." – Vincent van Gogh
Even on a less-than-perfectly-sunny-day at the beach, listening to the waves as they break onto the beach is calming and peaceful to me. And I could sit beneath an umbrella all day long and just watch and listen as the stresses of life melt away! Kara 2011
I love seeing lighthouses at the ocean. They remind me of the peace a sailor feels when being tossed by the sea and he catches a glimpse of the light calling him to the peace of the solid ground. All of a sudden he has hope. That is what Jesus did for me.
In the Bible, a lighthouse symbolizes guidance, hope, and salvation, akin to God's presence and wisdom. While not explicitly mentioned, its essence is reflected in scriptures like Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” emphasizing divine guidance.
The most prominent verse that says "Jesus is our peace" is Ephesians 2:14: "For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one." This verse highlights Jesus' role as the One who reconciles people to God and to each other, ultimately bringing peace.
