Thomas Millsaps was born in Belfast, Antrim, Ireland in 1679. He is the son of William Millsaps (1649-1709) and Elizabeth Wood (1647-1698). William and Elizabeth were married in Northern Ireland in 1675. Mary Ann Poplin was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1684. Thomas and Mary were married in 1706 in County Tyron in Ireland. Documents indicate that their religious affiliation was Protestant. My family line will follow their son and daughter-in-law, Robert Millsaps and Ellender King.
Thomas and Mary had the following children: Mary Millsaps (1707-1759) William Millsaps (1709-1800) Elizabeth Millsaps (1711-1769) Thomas Thompson Millsaps (1713-1783) Jean Millsaps (1715-deceased) Robert Millsaps (1719-1793) Joseph Millsaps (1721-1821)
Thomas Millsaps Jr (1735-1783) Elinor Millsaps (1744-1813) On 18 August 1718, Thomas migrated fromm Eagle, England to South Carolina, British Colonial America. He listed his occupations as weaver and farmer. In 1735, he moved to Augusta Virgina. There, he received a land grant from King George for 400 acres for 40 shillings. The property was entered into probate 20 May 1760. Augusta, Virginia.
I began weaving in college. I made linen tea towels and overshot bookmarks. I do not consider myself an expert. I just dabble. Here, I am working for the historical society on a loom that is around 220 years old. I was surprised to find “weaver” as Thomas’ occupation.

Wow Nancy, this is amazing! I love the long line of history information placed over the lovely blended background, and to learn you enjoy dabbling in weaving. It's something I've never tried, however, my grand, and great great grandmother's both wove, and even had a spinning wheel. They also made hand loomed carpets for the farm house. This is one for another "lift" if you wouldn't mind? Love the corner notions!

I love how you've used the stitched frames to connect the people in your family tree - such an inventive idea. So much information about your family too. Generations will be glad to have this in years to come.

Super documentation with an elegant artsy flair. Generations will cherish this and be inspired to continue.
