Decluttering

Created for: April 2025 Art Journaling Challenge Week 1 {Resolve}

Journaling reads: I have tried to declutter my home on numerous occasions over the years, but I always seem to lose momentum before finishing. Recently, I was invited to a friend's house, and I was shocked by the level of clutter; there was only a narrow path to walk through from room to room. This experience sparked a new determination in me to create a plan for decluttering my own home, and I am resolved to complete it this time.

I started decluttering a few weeks ago, and the change in my home is incredible; it feels so much more spacious, and I feel a sense of lightness as well. I’ve come across things I didn’t even recall owning, many of which had been unused for years, just taking up room. As I continue this journey, I believe that lighter days are coming, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Good job and good luck! These days it seems we all have so much stuff we don't actually need... Love the colors of your page!
Thank you so much. Yes, as I get older, I'm finding I need less and less. It isn't things that bring me happiness, but family and friends. ♥

What a great idea - to scrap your de-cluttering. I so need to do that. I might "steal" your idea. Yesterday, I heard this big crash in my closet. I went in there and my cat was up on my top shelf and somehow, he had knocked it loose, and it was just hanging there. I have those closet organizers (everything snaps into place) and I had SO much "stuff" up on that shelf. I had to take it all down and there are now piles of stuff on my bathroom floor. I made a dent in it today, but geese, I need to get rid of a lot of stuff. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks so much, Cheryl. Oh no, that must have been awful when that shelf fell. I moved into my apartment five years ago, it was a quick decision, so I didn't declutter before moving in, just brought it all. Then when I saw my friends home recently, I knew mine would be like that if I didn't take action, and soon. I still have a ton of paperwork to go through, and some art materials, then I'm pretty much finished. For now at least! ♥
