A classic 5¢ and 10¢ store opened in 1930. Not much has been updated since then, including the original wood floors that creak. A giant statue "Vidler on the Roof" was placed on the roof in 2009. Their TV commercials are corny and humorous.
Process
A solid paper from APP Yuletide was used as the foundation for the page. The photo was clipped to the frame mask (FIT Pack 3I page 10). The photo was duplicated and the main image was extracted. A custom shadow was added. The statue of the Vidler on the Roof was extracted and placed sitting on the sign. The page was completed by adding brush work, splatters, word art and dimensional embellishments.
Another wonderfully creative masterpiece! Story first and best, then great extractions and background. I remember creaky wooden floors in the 5 & 10 in Bloomfield NJ. Don't know if they are still there.
Wonderful memories.. I got my pet duck from a five and dime in our little village growing up. I loved wandering up and down the rows looking for treasure. What's not to love about your page..super extraction, great title work and fantastic shadows.
Fabulous layout. I love your placement of elements and extractions. The silver star in the background is genius! I miss the wondering through the old creaky shops.
The starburst and scattered words really add to the excitement of visiting the vintage store. I love old creaky wood floors. Excellent extractions, and design!
