After having several friends get flooded houses during Hurricane Helene. We
decided to evacuate, after all we are in ZONE A. I put stuff up high and
put my paper scrapbooks in a plastic bin I packed food from freezer to put for camper. Jay went to club to get camper...
the truck would not start batteries dead so off he went to get new batteries,
there are 2 in the diesel, changed and loaded off we went I followed
in the van (insurance will not pay if you leave it in evacuation area). It took us about 6 hours to travel 150 miles to Mayo FL which is North and central. Our campsite is nice. There are so many people here fleeing Milton. We are in constant contact with our friends in a group chat everyone went different places but we are all safe at this point. Now we just wait it out. Hope our houses are intact and everyone is safe.
Can’t even imagine what you must be going through. Hope you and your friends and families will be save and can return to your homes soon

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. This page is a reminder to document life - good, bad, and in between. Wishing you the best! Hugs

Debby, I am glad you are in a safe location and have been staying in touch with your friends. It is good that you were able to get to the campground early enough to settle in ahead of the bad weather. Evacuation is really tough but worth it to be safe. I hope any damage is minimal. Keeping you and those in Milton’s path in my prayers.

Wonderful layout and journaling. So glad you're in a safe place. I grew up in Florida, central, and went through a lot of hurricanes, but this one is creeping me out. My sister, nieces and nephews are still living in central FL, and I have lots of friends scattered around the state. I pray you and yours will be okay, and your homes too. ♥
