Cape Escape 042

This is the last page of my Family Vacation 2024 album, now out for printing, the first of the four I will eventually need for Christmas gifting. It's a test run, on a 50% discount. It took about two months to get to this point. Forty-two pages with full journaling and no meltdowns. Not too shabby.

On reflection, I'd definitely use the batching process again when constructing a large album on a deadline. Having the freedom to throw photos at pages without ditzing around with visual details allowed me to stay focused on the story and the chronology and kept me from becoming bored or bogged down. I also found that when I went back to construct the visual details, it was more of a treat than an obligation, because I knew I was making progress overall even if I was dithering over a cluster or texture. And sticking to the combo of two template albums—FotoInspired and the Scenic Template albums—made the spreads speed along without having to worry about transitions among pages, although I had to tweak just about every template to suit my photos.

The downside? Of course there is one. I am temporarily burned out from moving at such a fast pace, and, physically, my eyes have been complaining (I work on a 17-inch laptop). But I'm happy to pay this price for a gift that I know will be treasured by my family members forever. Would I do it again just this way? You betcha!

I am so glad I saw this! you have given me hope that I can do my DH's and mine 50 anniversary cruise. He has more that 4K photos of which I will use some of his but then I have my own also.

This page is amazing! I always have loved large photos in the page. Then the family photo adds so much. Gorgeous!

Congratulations on a job well done! I love the photos you chose for this last page. It has been so interesting to follow along with your adventure through your beautiful pages. I have learned so much and you have truly been an inspiration. Besides enjoying the pages of your vacation book, it was heartwarming to see a large family group enjoying each other. Your family will be able to experience the joys of this vacation over and over again through your book. Long before digital scrapbooking, I loved when my kids and nephews would pull out my photo albums and reminisce. Page after page, I would hear them saying, “remember the time we did this” as they cut up with one another over shared memories. I know that this book will help your family relive these treasured, fun times for years to come.

Thanks for the kind words! I am eager to start traveling along with you on your cruise--over 4K photos! And to think I was intimidated by 700+ LOL. Still, I wound up being glad for every one. Your book is going to be beautiful, and what fun you will have re-living all of your adventures.

You've captured the spirit exactly--thank you so much for this precious comment. From the beginning I was looking at this as a legacy project that would enrich everybody who entered the world of this album for a walk down memory lane. Things change so fast in this world that I really did feel like I was on a mission to capture one little piece of time in one little corner of a harmonious universe. We will always have the memories, just as you say. Happy storytelling to you!

i like this simple last page of your family holiday photo book. the two photos beautifully show what this week was all about:
Family life and fun, cuddling the grandchildren, being relaxed in nature and by the water.
