Our membership at Selby Gardens entitles us to a free pass at a different local garden or museum each month. In July we went to the Museum of History in St. Petersburg. We learned that they are in the Guiness Book of World Records for having the largest collection of signed baseballs. We saw signatures of not only baseball players such as Babe Ruth, but also famous people like Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh, even Presidents, as well as the infamous like Fidel Castro.
In addition we enjoyed seeing the Benoist airplane that flew from here to Tampa. The St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line operated for part of 1914, and is commonly recognized as the world's first regularly-scheduled passenger and commercial freight airline.
