Cape Escape 020-021

Moving right along on this year's family vacation album, this spread is about taking the whole gang out to one of my favorite places—Monomoy Island—to look for seals. My husband and I have hiked this area shore-side and have seen lots of seals from the land, and I've rowed around in a dinghy, but this was the first time I've been out in a shallow-draft motor craft to get close to a substantial haul-out of seals, featured on the next spread.

Nothing fancy in this design, although I did clip the extraction to a torn piece of paper to disguise the awkward straight bottom of the photo. The challenge in this layout was placing the photos for color balance and in color-coordinating everything. Finally I settled on a mint color paint from my daughter's and grandson's hats, which (strangely, I thought) worked to tie things together. I supplemented this with a blue ArtsyKard for a mat and transfers and a paper from the Crazy Life APP as background.
This is a happy page with stories of a day enjoyed by young and old alike. The pictures are a beautiful reminder of family time well spent. This is another great addition to your family vacation album. Great job!

Well, it's easy to understand WHY it's your favorite place and I haven't even seen the seals yet. That extraction is done brilliantly. All of the different framing is especially creative.

Fun and an exciting trip! You're a master at extractions and balancing photos on the page! Hope the kids enjoyed seeing the seals.

Thank you! Still chugging along and feel confident I will be ready to grab the printing sales for Christmas!

Thank you! Sometimes it feels like I'm stacking up a pile of playing cards. I've seen the kids (yes, the adult ones) evaluate the photo choices to see how many of the ones they've taken have made it into the book...big juggling challenge over here!

I am so impressed with your progress! Great selection of photos, and that green sets off the blues better than the white alone! I love the extraction and the "extensions" provided by the threadz ;- I keep trying to batch, and I keep failing. I'm gonna give it another go today (else I get behind and lose some of the details).

Thanks! Doing the batching thing has really has been a lifesaver, especially as I am in a creative slump at the moment. Summer is never my best season!
