Sheepherder

We had seen new fencing at Alamosa refuge in the fall, but no signs of grazing permits issued until our July trip. There were hundreds of sheep and goats, all packed closely together. Two herding dogs crossed a ditch to get to us, and we saw one sheepherder carrying a cellphone.
This is so interesting to look at - I keep seeing more and more things. I really like the way the browns and tans of your page melt into the big photo of the sheep. And the feather seems so appropriate.

This is awesome!! Your layering and composition are marvelous, it tells a story even without the words. Beautiful!!

What a cool photograph!! I wish the sheepherder could see this page you created! Love the animals in the background...beautiful page!!! :heartpumplove:

This leaves one asking for more. The picture is beautiful and the journalling is intriguing! I can't help wondering if what they are doing is legal or not and what rights they have got. In Australia we would refer to the roadside verges as the long paddock.

It is legal. They lease the land because some in government will cut the fat in their budget to the bone and insist on this as a solution, until they get their wishes to sell off all the public lands in the American West to the wealthiest barons, little by little and then more. I felt fine, because there's plenty of grass here and, well, I'm a carnivore. ;)

I am glad to see that those who are probably some of the poorest in the land reap some benefit but there is always an ulterior motive behind it isn't there? Me, I love a good steak or lamb roast...
