Cape Escape 08-09

My first snag! As i work on adding the finishing touches to the spreads I have batched (I am working five spreads per batch), I ran into problems with the previous spread and am happy to say that for the first time...I just walked away! Old me would have spent hours grinding over all the pieces that just won't get together, working myself into a self-lacerating frenzy. New me says "see ya later, alligator." I will return to that spread of course, hopefully when I am refreshed. Mindset really is important in storytelling on this scale.
These are simple layouts, designed to get the story told and into the album. Period. I'm using several different FotoInspired Template Packs because they work together so seamlessly, and every now and then I am throwing in a Scenic Template when opportunity arises. Texture and color on this spread come from the transfers in the Bespoke Artplay Palette. The main work here was getting the yellow from the shell on the right page to travel across the spread, which I did with a transfer from the APP. I also recolored the stitching but will probably revert back to black. I find I am not liking the colored effect. I don't love this spread but it fits my "good enough" philosophy, and I do plan to return to fine-tune all my work when the book is done.
This is such a fun page! I love the kids' expressions and the title is perfect. Seashells are one of Mother Nature's greatest treasures and I can never resist collecting them when the opportunity arises. Beautiful use of the template.

I too think it looks great! Love stories of shells - I would be very excited to find such a shell! I have in the past but not where we are now. The yellow and shells flow nicely, maybe just a touch of red on the right (splatters? or make the heart charm red?). Nice approach to walk away!

beautiful use of the model! I love this page on the left with all these little faces that are full of joy and spontaneity!

Thanks so much!

And right you are. I get so absolutely blinded when doing the finish work...if I wasn't batching, than finishing, I'd probably still be on the first spread angsting. I think I knew red needed to be on the right (the word label leans in that direction), but when I come around to this one again, I'm going to try splatters. Or some paint. Or recoloring.... Thanks for the feedback!

PS: Tried the splatters and stains (looked like blood--egad!) but settled in on the reddish/pinkish starfish and amped up the label so it wasn't too matchy-matchy. Like it much better. Thanks again!
