June-Challenge-#6---Journaling-left-side-web.jpg

3 days to get this right ....My cousin Sandy 'got' me. No matter how long we were apart it was yesterday. Soul sisters forever. Walks 500, the El Camino in January & February, fine at reunion in July, diagnosed stage 4 pancreatic August, gone in March...Cancer sucks. The End

Journaling reads:
Hi Sweet Cuz! I was standing on the beach yesterday trying to stay upright while Mother Ocean was flexing her muscles, but she was proving who, exactly was in charge. It's amazing how little control we have over life in general. I took the footprint pictures and likened them to you and me, side by side forever even though our trajectories are different at this particular point in time. I stood in the surf and felt the sands shifting back and forth beneath my feet and I thought one big one will knock me flat but you my sweet cousin have had your sand shift so many times and each time you handled it with grace positivity and a smile on your face. You are my inspiration. I sat in the sand for an hour just staring at the shifting waves, hopefully I didn't get sand fleas. Seriously though when I got up to leave, the footprints were gone, but I know the grains are still there together forever Sweet Cuz.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt journaling - I am so sorry for your loss. Cancer does suck, but your words are beautiful. I particularly like the part where you say that the footprints might be gone, but the sand grains are still there together forever...

Thank you so much for your sweet words. The journaling is a message I sent to her along with the pictures while we were in Key West. I will always treasure the texts we shared the last 6 months, it helped me just to say what I needed to say, and she replied when she felt up to it. I've saved every one.
