My Last Hydrangea - Amaranthine

In the large scheme of things, this is trivial, I know. But it really upset me. The deer have just started doing this in the past few years.

I had high hopes for my one remaining hydrangea, which is the only thing I’ve had moderate success at not killing. I was taking pictures almost every day to capture a series of the blooms. The deer had already nibbled away my other two bushes in a different spot. This one, I thought was safe, between the kitchen window and the driveway. Starting April 30 until May 16 all was well. Then May 17 I found the decimation. I wanted to cry, but instead said a very bad word. They came back a couple days ago and finished it off.

Amaranthine Artsy Paper 3 was placed for the foundation. Three small photos were clipped to the Postage Frame masks. A 2nd copy of AP3 was clipped to the frame layer. The large hydrangea photo was masked with brushes, duplicated twice with PS-Stylize-Find Edges, blended with Linear Light and Color Burn. The AI created deer photo was extracted and partially masked with brushes. All layers were selected and transformed then slightly rotated (just one dozens of Anna’s Scrapbook Multiplier Blueprint suggestions from Monday’s Class). Solid Paper 5 was placed below. Completed with elements, Artsy Transfers, Word Art, button threadz, paper transfer, glow and journaling.

Aww, gee--Caught in the act!! I feel your pain. Between the deer and the bunnies, my garden has often been their feast. Occasionally they leave me some teeth marks as evidence. The big picture is priceless and almost looks like he is posing for you. I enjoyed reading your journaling. Great page!

O my, I feel your pain. But that photo is so amazing! I had no idea that deer eat hydrangea.
I'm really sorry for you, but I love your page and your journalig is heartfelt!

Ah, great story, wonderfully portrayed. I know I would be very frustrated and might even cry. We are very lucky in Portland - things grow beautifully, including several nice hydrangeas, and there is no wildlife in a city ;-) I love the deer and his lacy collar, the triad of purple elements, and the progression of photos in the postage frame.

Aren't there things you can plant near the hydrangea that keep the deer away? Love the picture of the deer with the hydrangea in it's mouth.

Gorgeous page! Boooooo to the deer. We bought some stinky deer repellent for the gardens. Saw one standing in the middle of the flower bed the other day. Guess deer are immune to everything.

I tried a homemade spray early in the spring. Then I forgot to respray after all the rain we've had. I think I might try shaving a bar of Irish Spring. I've heard that works. It's either that or put a fence around them, which would not look great right in front of the house. I have until next year to figure it out I guess.

Well, I would agree, except for the fact that we eat them. So there's that.

an explosion of colours. My first impression
after that I read your journalling.
My condolences. My neighbours and I also have deer that often help themselves to our most beautiful flowers. We collect all the recipes for venison dishes .
