Ninebarks

My inner gardening nerd came out in full force when I discovered a display of inexpensive mini-shrubs at Home Depot, including two very-hard-to-find-around-here 'Center Glow' Ninebarks. I had just returned from the fancy nursery (no luck), and so stumbling upon these Ninebarks at the Depot felt just a little short of miraculous. I went a little nuts, returning over several days to pick up lace-cap and panicle hydrangeas and even a Japanese dappled willow, all headed to the various planting beds we're creating at our new/old farmhouse. Definitely worth a scrapbook page. Oh, and I even found a third Ninebark--a 'Royal Jubilee."

This design uses one of the new Flower Fotoblendz Templates and much of the Bouquet Artplay Collection. I had to jiggle the template somewhat to fit my photos, and even added a frame pirated from a different template to contain a photo at bottom right. I also had to re-do the text boxes to fit with the photos and the Word Cluster. After all that was done, I added the background paper, a transfer from the Artplay Pallette and an Artsy Transfer to enrich the colors and textures. I embellished with a couple of layers from the MultiMedia Bouquet Set and grasses from the Artplay Palette.

Oh, you are soooooooooo speaking my language. I had 3 Ninebarks and only have 1.5 left. They were planted in the wrong spot where they got too much shade in the morning from our big maple trees. The Depot has great plants, at least the one here does. I just LOVE this and LOVE your planting beds! Great, pics and I can't wait to see the bloomers (plants ;). I have a thing for hydrangeas too :) Beautiful how your journaling snuggles right in there along with your garden helper.

Whoa you take gardening to a whole different level! I love the way the journaling, title and large photo capture center attention!

Oh what a beautiful layout. As someone who cant grow anything this is extra beautiful. Never heard of the things you planted or hunted down but I cant wait to see later how they all look. Love all the journaling you added. Photo layout is wonderful.

Speaking of rabbit holes! Love your enthusiasm and hard work. Sounds like the shopping trip paid off and for years.

Thanks so much fellow gardener! The house is an 1876 farmhouse and when we bought it a few years ago it was overgrown with every invasive plant in the book. This is our third year of cultivation and it's so cool to see that so many of the plants are thriving. Seeing them come back in the Spring is like meeting old friends, and we're already at the point where we can divide and replant into new beds. I have high hopes for my Ninebarks as their bed has a southern exposure...sorry to hear about yours...fingers crossed. And our Home Depot is also a great source, though the one in the next town over is more like Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree. Go figure!

It's a BIG level, that's for sure...and there's more happening around the back. This is year 3 of beating back the overgrowth and working on this is pure joy!

Thank you so much! Doing this is like painting with plants and at this time of year it's so much fun to plan and shop and plant...and hope for success!
