I started this layout in an unusual way for me, by constructing the wordART from three pieces first. I then picked an Artsy Paper I liked (#1), added a multi-layered Fotoblendz. added a second Artsy Paper (#3) over the first one on screen blend mode to soften the colors, then moved the Fotoblendz and wordART around on the page until I liked the effect. I added my photo and added the birds on a wire because there is actually a power line that birds hang out on across the street—I hooked the wire to a swirl that was already on one of the artsy papers so it wasn't just hanging out there. For additional visual interest, I pulled in just the background layers of the Artsy Layered Template. As I usually do, I turned off all the layers and then systematically turned them on again to see what worked and what didn't—in total, I used about a dozen of the template's artistry layers. I then augmented these layers with selective layers from the matching Artsy Transfer set and finished up with the tin bird and a leaf.
