1963, Trip to New Mexico
We traveled to NM to see Grandma and Grandpas several times. This one was in the summer and two different outings, where we needed sweaters and scarfs on an adventure up in the mountains. The photo of nothing but the barren highway in NM has some significance. On one trip, Dad had a file box of papers and LPs on the luggage rack that blew off and papers flew everywhere. Everyone but Stuart and Scott were running around on the roadside picking up what we could. And I remember Dad later, polishing his beloved but badly scratched records (Switched on Bach), and attempting to repair the roughed-up album covers. We still listened to them many times throughout the years, scratches and all. The timeline doesn’t match though. It had to have been in the 1969 Dodge Coronet station wagon with the luggage rack, but this photo was in the 1964 group of photos, when we would have owned the ‘57 Chevy.
