Consider the lilies
They don't toll nor spin.
But there's not a king
With more spendor than them.
Consider the sparrows,
they don't plant nor sow
But are fed by the master
Who watches them grow
We have a heavenly father above
With eyes full of mercy
And heart full of love.
He really cares
When your head is bowed low
Consider the lilies and then you will know
May I introduce you
To this friend of mine
Who hangs out the stars
And tells the sun when to shine
And kisses the flowers
Each morning with dew
But He's not too busy
To care about you.
Joel Hemphill wrote the words and music to Consider the Lilies in 1977 (copyright Hemphill Music Company).
I’m so thankful for a heavenly Father who cares for His children in a broken, war-torn, poverty-stricken, hell-bent world, set for self-destruction spiritually. And yet we can rest in His care without a worry of what our future on planet Earth holds. I’m so thankful I can leave the cares of the world in His hands!
“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” (Luke 12:27)
