Lightening the Mood

I recently realized I had a photo of my father-in-law that really deserved to be scrapped. Why I hadn't already done so is beyond me ... but now I can check that puppy off my list. You can learn about my trick for bringing life back to an otherwise "blah" photo here.

The journaling reads:

"This is an example of how silly Sol could be. The day Charlie and I were packing up their family home to move them into an assisted living facility was obviously a very difficult time. At the time they were in their late 80's. My mother-in-law was insisting we take ALL her china (service for 129,922), along with pretty much everything in their 2500 sq ft house - even though their new apartment was about 900 sq ft. She was getting (understandably) more and more distressed and emotional. Sol had been wandering around the house, more or less getting in the way of the packers. As I was comforting Florence, he walked into the room with his red nose and just stood there until we looked up. Didn't say a word. Then slowly broke into this "aren't I so cute" half grin. Florence uttered her very familiar "Solllllllll!" but laughed and the tension was broken. He passed away in 2015, nine days after his 93rd birthday."

What a beautiful layout and such a touching story behind the photos! I agree, the photo of your father-in-law with the red nose needed to be scrapped and this story needed to be told.
