Journaling reads:
This is the first picture of me. It is the standard hospital photo in
1957 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Mom always said that I looked
just like Brenda...except large enough to live. Dad carried this photo
around in his wallet for all the years that I can remember. I don’t
remember the statistics that I’m sure I was told about my birth.
But I do remember that this was before fathers were allowed in the
delivery room. My dad would have been all in with seeing me
delivered, but since he couldn’t...he lucked out. Because the 1957
World Series was in the 7th game. My dad loved sports and he was
planted in front of the television in the waiting room watching the
7th and deciding game of the World Series. The Milwaukee Braves
beat the New York Yankees 5-0. Which was probably a good thing,
because if the game had been closer, Dad would have waited to see
me until it was over.
