Journaling reads:
Jessica to Araya: “Araya, what part of that outfit matches?”
Araya to Jessica: “The white!”
Jessica’s thoughts on the matter: Sometimes we match and other times we let it go!

I always encouraged Jessica and her siblings to be themselves! Don’t just follow the crowd because it is the popular thing to do! Those crowds of people do not make good friends and you will be sadly disappointed in the end. Now, that’s not to say that there doesn’t need to be some reigning in and some guidance about certain things, especially things that really matter to the Lord! Our actions do matter. The Lord Jesus was kind and compassionate in everything he did and to everyone He came into contact with (yes, even to the scribes and Pharisees – He could have just zapped them out of existence!). Our speech does matter. The Lord Jesus quoted scripture and spoke timely words. Our modesty does matter. Modesty is not only about the clothes you wear, but the Lord Jesus was stripped of His clothes in order to cause Him shame. What message does that send to you? Our passions do matter. The Lord Jesus was passionate about completing the task on earth that the heavenly Father had given Him to do…to die for the sins of His people.

I love seeing the individuality in each of my children and grandchildren. I love the different personalities. But I also love seeing my children guide my grandchildren “in the way they should go”; teaching them to follow the Lord. Are they all going to make wise choices? No. Even in my advancing age I don’t always make the wisest of choices! It’s a sin nature problem.

Proverbs 27:19 tells us we are all fearfully and wonderfully made by God. He has given us different talents and abilities as He formed us in the womb. Sometimes it takes a lifetime to figure out what those talents and abilities are. But when we figure it out (as He reveals them to us) we need to be passionate about using them for the glory and honor of the Lord God! Have you “figured it out” yet? If not, keep seeking. Ask the Lord to reveal it to you! You are a unique individual, beautifully created by the Lord Jesus for a specific task! Be passionate about it!
