With the big cold front arriving there were 40 mps wind gusts. We drove to Deer Ridge Junction with just a few forays into the wind. I often don't zip my parka, so for the first little while I fought the wind trying to take it to Kansas until I took the time to snap the hood snugly.

Some pretty strong winds! Wonderful photos of the elk. Bet they were warmer than you with their heavy winter coats!

Nice seeing that big wood title. Zip that parka! You need to stay warm enough to take photos (because now I know your phone won't work when your hands are cold).
