1930 Road Trip.jpg

My theme is a 1930 road trip my husband’s grandparents, father and aunt took traveling from Washington State to the East. They were gone for three months and traveled over 10,000 miles.

Page 1 is an introduction of how I envision the beginning to set the stage, but the remainder of the album will be in Aunt Ellen’s own words as written in her diary.

1930 Road Trip Memories Forever Treasured. The air was dry and the sun seemed extra hot that September day in Yakima as nineteen year old Ellen hurried downtown. She wanted something in which to write the stories of their upcoming adventure. The hard work was done for this year. She had worked since spring for the packing company, first sorting and packing cherries, then pears, peaches, and finally apples.

The family, L.O., Rose, Alton and Ellen were leaving tomorrow in their 1930 Chevy for the trip east. Alton was 21 and would do most of the driving. He had saved most of his money from working at the lumber mill. The folks shut down their home laundry business and were eager to see the countryside and visit family in Michigan, Ohio and Kansas. She purchased a perfect little brown journal at the Five & Dime and a No. 2 pencil.
superb retro page! I really like this torpédo that comes out of the frame as well as the background of it . your album of this trip will be exciting!

Remarkable story! I am so glad that you are documenting! This is a wonderful design for the beginning of your book!

Oh my goodness! I don't even know where to begin. I love the whole idea of this book! Your introduction is amazing...seriously, a book that I would buy. And this page...perfect placement of photos with beautiful colors. I love your title, love the "Sep", love the leaves behind the photo...and that car. Stunning. I can't wait to see the rest of the story!

Beautiful! I'm also looking forward to watching this story unfold. Love the placement of the book on top of the photos. It's a perfect beginning ... anyone who sees it will want to open it and read the stories inside. Congrats on the Standing O!

This beautiful design is featured in the AnnaLift Challenge. Thank you for your inspiration!

In Life is a Story: 1930 Road Trip, NanaJ begins an album adventure with a dynamic interpretation of a template. The photos depicts the young family. The neutral colors of the photos are accented with a warm brown and bright orange. A brown notebook from the 5 & Dime - to document the adventure - adds a personal touch and dimension. The FotoBlendz is filled with a vintage illustration - perfect for a road trip. The wooden date is accented with a round button that repeats the circles of the illustration. NanaJ completes the design with a mixed font wordart title that leads into the story. NanaJ shares her stunning artistry to inspire our memory keeping.
