Pollinator Pathway

A page about our new/old Hudson Valley farmhouse (1876), which we recently purchased. My daughter and SIL are doing the fixer-upper work, but I have my hands deep in the landscaping.

I started with the template (#14), pulling in the frames from a second template (#4), then added Artsy Paper #6 from the Artplay Palette as the background, warming up the bottom of the paper with an orange gradient on multiply blend mode at 79%. I recolored the Threadz to white with a saturation layer and used various transfers/overlays from the APP on top of the main photo on different blend modes to create dark tones to create a black visual triangle and to “frame” the caterpillar. I used a warm Fotoglo to additionally highlight the caterpillar.

Love the floral raised beds and milkweed plants. We have milkweed all around the fields, I've been watching and waiting for the caterpillars and monarchs! Gorgeous nature page!

I love love love an orange garden and how you used the orange gradient. Monarchs are rare here but I love learning more about our milkweeds. The most beautiful milkweed of all, I think, might be Showy Milkweed. I'd recommend it if you can find it locally?

Love your colorful page and the lazy caterpillar--your new endeavor sounds so fun!! i do enjoy my hands in the soil! So often, I have found every little bit of poison ivy that grows on my property. My family wonders why I don't stop with the weeding but they do not realize that I cannot let the weeds win!!no matter what the cost.

Beautiful work on the garden. Love the idea of a "pollinator pathway" and that you are already enjoying success with your first caterpillar.

You are doing the work of the angels on earth. We need pollinators! That’s another thing I will miss about Austin, it’s on the monarch migration path. Every fall I am treated to many monarch visits.
