**I would like to state for the record, there is no physical abuse involved. This is a personal insight from a problem that started decades ago. This is my own feelings on the problem and my children are in no way in danger of any sort. Alcoholism is a disease that affects thousands of people everyday. This is just a glimpse of the view of someone that lives with an alcoholic. It took a lot for me to share this part of my life, but I feel that I needed to share my feelings on the subject. Its an ongoing process that we are trying to work through as a family.
Journaling: Living with an alcoholic fills you with all kinds of emotions, anger, exhaustion, and anxiety. You learn to try to prepare for it, but it doesnt always have a warming. You do your best to try and help, but you cant help what doesnt want it. Not love or logic will get through. Its like living with two different people. One is sweet, loving and a wonderful father. The other is cruel, impatient, and doesnt care about the feelings of those around him. While you know that you cant live like this forever, youre afraid that the right thing to do will break him beyond fixing. And even though it might come to that, you still cling to the hope that one day, he will make the decision to get better.
