Western Tanager

The numbers of hummingbirds we had always seen in other years just weren't around. So we asked Reed to tell us anything about their habits. He pointed above us to a zone-tailed hawk, and explained how the smaller birds are just doing what they must to avoid being lunch.

Love the colors spread over the pages! that highlighted list is perfect! I really want to try something like this, it's so soothing to look at and enjoy!

Loving the bird pages. We were on the lookout for scarlet tanagers while out birding a few days ago, and no luck, but we did see a group of indigo buntings. The orioles are out in full force. Our hummers have also decreased--just one regular at the feeder, a male ruby-throat.

Great photos of the western Tanager! Love the stamp and cut out butterfly!

I couldn't remember where I got the butterfly when I posted. It's from emeto's Hope and Love Collection

Excellent photos. Love that yellow paint chip on the left. That's where my eye starts each time I look at this then off it goes to the right and back around the butterfly-not that you wanted to know all that ;-)
