ArtPlay Brio AAPI New Colossus

I've been leafing through a young people' American Poetry book and thought The New Colossus most appropriate to express my sadness about the killings in Atlanta.

Straight Line Stitched White No 3
Two Artsy Papers used for the background. On the right, I turned an Artsy Paper about 90 degrees to form the corners, then emphasized these with additional Transfers and Stitching. Two copies of Photo on left (the photo is from the Poetry book) are blended using FotoBlendz Overlays in Darken and Soft Light mode, with stains colored. I created a custom text box (using the Pen Tool) for the poem to fit in the white space, and added a few embellishments.

The journaling in a nutshell - as a granddaughter of immigrants in an immigrant-founded country, I don't understand prejudice and racism; the killings in Atlanta made me very sad.

Love the image. Beautiful tribute. Hopefully someday some we will all embrace each other.

This is a beautiful 2 page spread that flows so beautifully. Your use of the blue is great to form that trio to hold your imagery & journaling. I am curious about that very striking Lady Liberty and the abstract bed of red, white & blue behind her -- very artsy and interesting.
I'm so saddened by the events as well, by all the hate and violence our society continues to demonstrate. I like your way of channeling your emotions into art.

Beautiful double page I love the bright blue colours with the artsy bits and the journaling I to am saddened by the injustice that is done.x

Thanks, Patty Anne! The photo is from the Poetry book from which I also got the poem. It's an old Scholastic publication. I manipulated the color and blending to get it to look as it does here. There is no explanation nor attribution for the photo in the book. The implication is that it is representing the ancient city of Rhodes, home of the original Colossus of Rhodes, inspiration for the poem.

I love this. Just the right amount of white space to let us soak in every single detail.

Scholastic?! I LOVED Scholastic. Books were my first vice - and a constant throughout my life. Thank you for that nostalgic poke.
That's such striking imagery, I love how you used it. The abstract nature of it implies things, makes my mind flow with its movement. Coupled with the poem and your theme, I'd say it's a homerun. Thank you for telling me the story of. - When there's some unspeakable horror or violence, I too try to create something beautiful to transmute the darkness I feel.

Stunning, striking and thoughtful documentation of yet another senseless tragedy.
