The Long Way Home

Coming back from Moab, there was "scheduled maintenance" on Vail Pass. It was closed in both directions. We waited some at Vail, but decided to go over Tennessee Pass to Leadville to Copper Mountain over Freemont Pass. A long slow drive, but beautiful winter scenery.

what beautiful light! love that bit of stitching and the postmarks, and the open door inviting us to go outside

Looking out that window is so fantastically fairytale real. Wonderful blending. Good to have the patience for a different road. Sometimes longer but often more satisfying.

Oh myths is delightful. Love your documentation of the route... like in a novel.

Stunning! In the 80s we lived in Dillion and worked in Vail. Vail pass closed the first storm we had that winter, we took that route around to get home to the kids that night. Took us hours! It was more scary than beautiful in the dark!
