One of my favorite hobbies is painting friendship rocks. Some years ago, I found my first ever Friendship Rock in a local park. Due to the recent loss of a loved one, I was walking and crying when I happened to see the little rock, painted with a kitty, along my path. It took me out of my grief for a few moments and made me smile. I knew right then I had to learn to paint similar rocks myself and leave about, so I might put a smile on someone's face. So I began researching, learned the technique, and started creating rocks to share. I hide the rocks on the local greenway for others to find. I put a notice on the back of the rock to either rehide or keep. I also add my local rock painting Facebook group location, so the person finding the rock can share there if they wish. I've had reports that my rocks have traveled to California and even overseas to Scotland. It's a real delight knowing that my efforts are reaching people all over the globe. I have other hobbies, but I genuinely love painting these adorable little rocks and the satisfaction of knowing they might make a difference in someone's day.
