They were views held by friends, neighbors and even Brother Bill and it was OK if once in a while I was even seriously disappointed. But when I read an article listing the details of the G.O.P. platform as seen by Trump, I was very alarmed at how he amplified and interpreted them.
When I found an article 'The Platform the GOP Is Too Scared to Publish' in The Atlantic, it was a big deal to me and I wanted to document it. The obituary had the (circled) paragraph, "In lieu of flowers, think of Mrs. Thomas while casting your vote to remove President Trump from office."
