Hiking the Dunes-Snowy Plover

Past the foredune were 7 miles of open beach, wide, flat, wild. All of the dry sand/foredune areas were roped off to protect the nesting snowy plovers. Walking on the wet sand only, which was blissfully easy compared to our march through the dunes, we watched as many plovers fed in the shallow wave edges. Were it not for the concern about completing another 2 miles over the sand, we might have lingered and wandered further and longer. It was breezy, cool and delightful.
