Blown Away

Everyone says, stay safe. Or you read the altruistic PC message, wearing a mask isnt about you, its about keeping your fellow man safe from your germs. Human nature says, whats in it for me.

Nobody talks about how you feel wearing the mask, the psychological impact it has on you. I believe the impact goes deeper than the 6 foot social distancing. Maybe it makes us more like 6 miles apart.

Have we forgotten how much nonverbal communication we do with our fellow human that speaks volumes? Just a brief look to friend or stranger says the whole story about a subject at hand. Thats lost with a mask. Ive lost count on how many well-meaning silent messages Ive gotten from kindly strangers that kept me from making a mistake.

Personally, I feel completely closed off from people, just objects I have to get around. They might as well be a pole I maneuver around going about my business. No more do I have a pleasant conversation with a stranger where Ive gleamed something new and useful, and most of all, value the encounter.

As much as I hate wearing a mask, I thank my daughter for making one I can breathe in, not like those horrible blue and white, choke the life out of me masks. And hopefully, some day, my phone will recognize me again.

Notes: Opening the 4 mask stitched template, solid paper 4 as the background and solid paper 2 for the masks. After playing around with filters on the photo on the bottom of the page, placed it and blended. Placing the fotoblendz, I clipped my selfie to it. Bringing in 3 masks from and stitched mask page, I arranged those on the left side, clipping the photo to each and using different blend modes on the masks.

Transfers were added on each side of the page and various brushes fleshed out the page. Journaling was brought into the white space as well as the word art was placed. STAY SAFE OUT THERE!
Wonderful layout and dokumentation. Love everything about it. I can so understand how it feels to wear a mask. I have tried it but I' m thankful we don't have to use it in Sweden. Let's hope everything is back to normal life soon.

I feel exactly like that Barbara ... now that the virus has started a second wave in Belgium, the measures are much stricter and we also have to wear a mask when shopping ... also in public places and in the shopping streets. mask has become mandatory ... I'm afraid we will have to live like this for a while ... unfortunately ...
You made a wonderful layout ...

Beautiful page and blend work. I love the way you have belended the multiple photos and journaled ... sad that this is happening to all of us and hoping there will be an end to this soon for all of us with little to no more health issues. Beautiful page.

with this pandemic there are so many issues to take into consideration and your journeling and page response to that in a great way.
a very complex topic, with few absolute "right" or "wrong".
where i live, the measures are in some areas stricter than during the lockdown.

great blending. as much as I don't like wearing a mask, the alternative of getting the disease is so.much.worse.

I've been thinking about learning american sign language. I do a lot of waving to people. I had trouble at first but have gotten used to wearing a mask for hours on end (my volunteer activities require it, even though we are outdoors). This is a great statement, reinforced by the repetition.

Yes, a big time and so unpredictable, love this fantastic page where you show us what's going on in the whole world, it's a difficult time that you are confronted with every day!!
