I have 3 letters from 1930 that my great grandfather wrote to my grandmother when he took a cruise through the Panama Canal. He had been a widow for 4 years, so I guess this was a big deal for him. And after conversations with my aunt, I guess it was a big sigh for my grandmother to have him gone for a month!

Process
A solid paper from APP Old World was used as the foundation of the page. The photo was clipped to a fotoblendz mask. The blending mode of the mask was changed to color burn. The photo was duplicated (blending mode soft light) to increase the definition. A circle brush was stamped around the image to give a subtle framing. Artsy Transfers Old World 4 was layered behind the photo. Some of the layers were turned off or moved around the page. A Boats 1 image was stamped onto the page. Artsy paper 1 from APP Quaintville was clipped to the image, duplicated 2 more times with the blending mode changed to linear burn. Then the layers were merged and the blending mode was changed to hard light. The letter from my great grandfather was scanned and layered over the boat. A layer mask was added and the lower portion of the letter was brushed out. The page was completed by adding journaling (excerpts from the 3 letters that he wrote to his family), a title, artstrokes, and dimensional embellishments completed the page.
