Composed during WWII, the song expresses the hopes for an end to the war. The lyrics were intended to paint a picture in the minds of listeners about how the world would begin again. I could not help but think how similar this was to the situation today in our fight against the global war on the coronavirus.
The picture was compiled from three photos--the dawn sky, the earth from space and the jar of lights. Each was masked separately and blending modes applied. The paper was reduced in color and bokeh were blended as an overlay.
When the lights go on again all over the world
And ships will sail again, all over the world
Then we'll have time for things
Like wedding rings
And free hearts will sing
When the lights go on again all over the world.
