Photo was duplicated, large size was blended into the background paper with a screen blend mode, duplicated and blend mode changed to pin light, reverse mask created and parts of the face were brushed back in to add emphasis to detail. An adjustment layer was added to pull midtones down a bit and with an inverted mask was brushed over the face.
