This bird is from my 2nd brood of barn swallows that nested near my front door this summer. I sadly watched as they grew bigger and flew away. The day came when they all were gone in the morning. But that afternoon, I opened the door and one of my birds flew in. He lighted on my cabinent that had several glass candlesticks and a vase perched on top of it. He wasn't afraid of me as I snapped away using my camera. I actually got very close for some photos. He stayed for about 20 minutes and then left for good. Big sigh.

This was a very simple design. I choose this photo because it had a neutral backdrop and it was already selectively colored with the bird.

Process notes:
I used SolidPaper No. 4 as my base. I placed my photo, duplicated it and used the screen blend mode at 45%. Added a stroke around the photo for a slight definition. Perched the bird on the edge and added a descriptive sentence as final accents.
