While the leaves are turning in Portland, the forest along the Salmon River in Mt Hood National Forest is thick with fern understory and moss-covered branches reaching to the sky. The air was moist and crisp and clean as we hiked along the Old Salmon River trail, Cher excited by all the fresh natural smalls. It was magical!
