What a pretty and poignant tribute. Love how you connect your mother to the flowers. I, too, lost my mother suddenly when I was too young. They're gone but never forgotten, they'll always live on in our hearts.

I, too, love astilbe, and have quite a few varieties that I've dug and replanted as I moved from house to house. I know what you mean about moving at a gentler pace these days, too, and the love of something that is passed through the generations. This is beautiful work that really touches the heart!
