There is a story with this page. Most days I walk by a service garage. There are always a couple of older guys standing outside smoking cigars and looking quite serious. There are also a lot of cars sitting around in various states of repair. I pass by in just a second or two but, each time, I'm reminded of one of my grandfathers. He owned a wrecking yard the entire time I was growing up and then some. He employed his brother-in-law, who never failed to have a cigar going (they were forbidden at home). Lots going on in a wrecking yard back then. Shortwave radio calls for parts, people scavenging for their hobbies, movie types looking for cars to include in scenes where the cars get wrecked ... I have lots of stories about my time there. Anyway, my two seconds with these men, their cigars, and their garage take me back. My grandfather worried that after he died, no one would remember him. I think he'd be pleased to know that I think of him every day.

There are some other brushes and bits that lose their names in the process. If you see something and need more information, let me know.
Process...
I started with the solid and an old photo I had of San Francisco. You can see it faded behind the silhouette. I didn't have a photo of my grandfather that would work, so I cut out a silhouette which worked for the placement of the journaling. The multimedia document layers are behind the photo layers. I enlarged the photo and clipped it to a new layer. Then, I used a watercolor brush on the new layer to bring in the car part of the photo that I wanted to keep. The Accordion file is behind all of the other layers in the stack. It also has the photo blended over it. The transfers are scattered on layers between the mm document layers and the photo layers. To finish, I added some stitching, the mini-letter, key, arrow, stitching holes, and artstrokes.
