Photoshop Elements 14
This was such fun to lift: thanks ValeJules and Christy! I focused on the heritage look (of course) but also on creating a bit of an edgy look, which was so stunning in ValeJules's composition. I incorporated wordART with a patina as well. I wanted to work with a duplicated photo in black and white, as in the original layout, but I eventually substituted a metal mermaid embellishment for a duplicate photo of my mother.

I blended my photo and three duplicates into Fotoblendz from the Overlay set, then added my background to extend the landscape in the photoI chose Artsy Paper # 3, and converted it to black and white. From there I used the Artsy Transfers to add the blue of the sky and some foreground interest. I also blended layers of the Transfers over and under the photo to supplement the color and texture. I moved another copy of my photo over a few of the Transfer layers on Color Dodge blending mode to get a luminous effect. WordArt was next and then I went to town dragging in a variety of elements from Artplay Palettes...anything that had symbolic meaning had a chance of being included, and if it felt right, I kept it. The dragging in of these pieces was random...when you drag in from the bottom in Elements 13, the object can end up anywhere in the layer stack. I continued to drag and drop, experimenting with position and blending modes until I got the color, lines, and symbolic meaning that I was after.
I especially like the background texture! nice page expression of a dream!

un lift lgant, j'aime beaucoup vos harmonies de bleu et brun,
belle texture de fond , bravo Laura.

Wow, I LOVE this! I especially love the treatment on the fabric swatch!! Fantastic!

love the texture and edginess of the page! love your message to your children - love that flags element - fabulous page!

I never would have recognized that fabric swatch if you hadn't listed it, love what it adds to the page. The mermaid is also a great choice. You achieved edgy on a heritage page...great lift!

Love the grunge and blending! A good message to pass on! Gorgeous artwork!
