Morroco

Id like to say I just returned from an overseas adventure, but I took these photos in Disney World at the Morocco Pavilion! :)

In 711 A.D. the Moors conquered Spain and introduced a variety of artistic techniques to Europe, including a unique way of painting ceramic tiles called Zellige (or azulejo in Spanish and Portuguese) that consists of complex geometrical forms.

Process: Started with Travel Template No. 5_8; deleted set of frames, threadz, and text boxes and replaced with frames, threadz, text box, and title from No. 5_6. Clipped fountain photo and transfers to large mask and copies to adjoining stains. Clipped detail photos to framed masks, linked layers and decreased size of photo group. Added transfers to left and right sides of page. Clipped gold paint to postage brushes and title WordART added slight bevel; also added slight drop shadow to title. Finished with gold paint splatters, text, and elements.

Thanks for looking!
Beautiful! I love those tiles and I used them in the kitchen of my last house. Your page brings back my own fond memories of a part of Mexico.

ooh! I learned all about azulejo in Portugal (and couldn't get enough of them!). I love the way that background photo is blended!

Love those painted tiles. Beautiful in the fountain with the bright colors and repeating pattern.

We were in Tetouan in Morocco as part of our recent trip and happened to meet some of the schoolkids who were in artisan programs at the art school there...I love the tilework, but the embroidery is what really blew me away. The souk was an experience and I'm glad we had a guide for that because I'm not sure we could have found our way out by ourselves. Disney does a great job at Epcot I think, with its World Showcase. The first thing I thought of when I saw the Eiffel Tower for real was the marvelous use of perspective in Epcot's France section!

Love the photos of the tiles! Colors! Awesome art history lesson and page!

Superbe Marnie, j'aime les azulejos , les couleurs ocre, le bleu intense, tout le soleil de la mditerrane sur votre page, ( mme si vous n'y tiez pas )
