I decided to give the new Anna Lift a try. This is a vertical layout and I thought a portrait shaped picture might work best so I went in hunt of one to give me inspiration and instead I found this picture. I knew I had to give it height in order to make it look vertical.
Process
I placed the photo on the page and experimented with various masks the picture I had edited sort of square so I settled on LinearFotoBlendz1.3. I say thank you to Anna every time I use one because I was never very good at masking away parts of the photo on my own. Next I added solid paper 3 from APP Home and that is when I decided to try to use that kit for my page. I liked the thoughts that rambled in my head as a way to lay out the page. Most often I do create this way rather than coming up with a plan before I start the page and executing it.
I next added transfers 1 and ll behind the photo to help contain the photo. I had to mask away part of 11 because it didn't fit my plan. Now how to find an element from Home to fit this monster. I was already thinking of it as guarding a home so I pulled in the MultiMediaHome1.4. This resembles a house but isn't purely a house. I turned off the stencil looking flowers as they didn't work for me in my design. I had it hanging off the monsters tail so I added the ribbon from the kit and recolored it using Hue/Saturation adjustment.
Next I wanted to add a title and decided to create my own to suit my thought of this monster gurading the home. And to give it interest I changed the first letter on each word to a different font and color. I liked how I could snuggle the word guard up to the left and under home. But I had some trapped space so I filled it with a word brush and used the color form the home cluster. I used a brushed artstroke in the same color under the title to also help give it a connection to the cluster.
But to be vertical I felt I need to add more height. I used the brick brush to do that with, picking up on the color of the monster but reducing the opacity. Lastly a tiny bit of journaling under everthing gave me a little more vertical length.
What do you use to guard your home?
