I started with a neutral background paper, added a large photo (duplicated it and reduced size to put into frame) and then duplicated it 2 more times, changing the blend mode to linear burn and screen, reducing the opacity on each. I added another duplicate and with an inverted mask I brushed at low opacity over parts to darken a bit. I added overlays and elements along the edges.
