A spread from my Baltic Trip album, which went off to the printer yesterday at a full 74 pages long. This is one of the St. Petersburg spreads, using FotoInspired templatesa great way to document lots of pictures in not so much time. I used Artsy Paper #3 for both background papers and then clipped it into the FB Overlay to create a flowery centerfold. I also recolored the hex frame on each page. Photos of the happy couple, Peter the Great and Catherine I, and of the amber room, where photos are not allowed, are from the internet. I used embellishments from the Artplay Palette to complete the spread.

Journaling:
It WAS that big, actually bigger than my photo shows. This summer palace was quite a nice gift from Peter the Great to his wife, Catherine I. To be fair, it started out a little smaller, with major expansions coming from Elizabeth, their Versailles-obsessed daughter. Though the palace was damaged in Word War II, it had been so well documented that authentic restoration was possible. This includes the table shaped in a monogram of Catherines initials. The palace is home to some of Europes most extravagant interiors, including the famous Amber Room (where we were not allowed to take photos--I grabbed mine from the internet for memorys sake). It was lavish, with even the wall paneling cut from amber slabs. As for the rest of the palace, what sticks in my mind are the fanciful colors--pinks, and greens, and teals, all designed to uplift spirits during the gloomy Russian winters. The palace is about 15 miles south of St. Petersburg in the little town of Pushkin; in our travels through St. Petersburg, we had gotten used to seeing gilded onion domes rising in the skyline, and we were not disappointed here.
Wonderful documentation of your trip, giving you years of pleasure as you look back on them.

I just got my book back yesterday and it's such a great feeling! Good for your for getting er done. Love your gold with the minty accents.

Lovely photos of this elaborate abode...must have been grand standing in the middle of it all! Congrats on completing the book! I love reliving travel through pages like this one!
